What's in v0.2

Highlights

  • A ready APK. easyscanner-0.2.0.apk on the release page: Android 10+, arm64, signed with a development key.
  • Z-up PLY, shared from the phone. Export writes a binary PLY in millimetres with Z up and the object standing over the board, copies it to Download/EasyScanner and opens the share sheet.
  • The full assembly. Phone, clamp, U profile and the laser on its ball mount as STEP, a FreeCAD file and glTF in cad/assembly/, plus Blender renders and the script that makes them.
  • A flange clip for the laser mount. It grips one flange of the 16 × 13 mm U profile; the snap-on block stays as the other option.
  • ChArUco boards A4–A0. Vector PDFs at true scale, all DICT_5X5_100, and charuco/make_board.py, which draws any other size and checks the PDFs by detecting every corner. The PDFs are also on the project page.

First scan on a real phone

2026-10-19: camera calibration, the laser plane, the scan and the export. The app was still called HandScanner.

Camera calibration from 64 views of the board, the laser plane at rms 0.35 mm, then a hand-held scan of a phone exported as 254 219 points. The accuracy of real scans has not been measured yet.
