Easy Scanner: a laser line scanner from a phone

Hand-held 3D scanning with an Android phone and a line laser. The app, the printable parts and the boards are open, now at v0.2.

Easy Scanner: a phone, a line laser and a printed board.

A new project: Easy Scanner, a hand-held laser line scanner. An Android phone, a line laser on a printed ball mount and a printed ChArUco board: the phone finds its pose from the board, triangulates the laser stripe and builds a point cloud in millimetres, right on the device.

It ships as v0.2: the Android app with a ready APK on the release page, the printable parts, the assembly in STEP, FreeCAD and glTF, and ChArUco boards from A4 to A0, all open in the repo. The project page has how it works, what you need and how to use it.

Where it stands. The app scans on a real phone: the first hand-held scan exported 254 219 points after calibrating the camera and the laser plane. The accuracy of real scans has not been measured yet.
